This Privacy Policy describes how Good Vibe Publishing (“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Journai mobile application (“App”).
- Journal Entries — Text you write within the App is stored locally on your device only using an on-device SQLite database. We do not transmit or store your journal entries on our servers except as described in Section 2.
- Mood Data — Mood selections you make are stored locally on your device only.
- Usage Preferences — App settings such as notification preferences and theme choices are stored locally on your device using device storage.
2. AI Insights Feature
When you choose to use the ✨ AI Insights feature:
- The text of the specific journal entry you are viewing is transmitted to our secure server (hosted on Google Firebase Cloud Functions) solely to generate an AI-powered response.
- Our server processes your text using Anthropic’s Claude AI model to generate a personalised, compassionate insight.
- Your journal text is not stored, logged, or retained on our servers after the AI response is returned to your device.
- The AI-generated response is displayed to you in the App and is not stored on our servers.
- This feature is opt-in — your text is only transmitted when you explicitly tap the AI Insights button.
2.1 Third-Party AI Processing
By using the AI Insights feature, your journal text is processed by Anthropic, PBC. Anthropic processes this data in accordance with their own privacy policy and data usage policies. We encourage you to review:

If you grant permission, the App sends local push notifications (e.g. daily journaling reminders). These notifications are generated entirely on your device. No notification data is transmitted to our servers.
4. Data Storage and Security
- All journal entries, mood data, and preferences are stored locally on your device.
- We use Google Firebase Cloud Functions solely as a secure intermediary for the AI Insights feature. No user data is persisted on Firebase infrastructure.
- We implement reasonable technical measures to protect data in transit (HTTPS/TLS).
5. Data Retention
- Local data — Retained on your device until you delete the App or manually delete entries within the App.
- AI Insights data — Your journal text is processed in real-time and not retained after the response is delivered.
6. Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Delete your data — since all data is stored locally, you can delete it by removing the App
- Opt out of the AI Insights feature by simply not using it
- Withdraw consent for notifications via your device settings
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA) or California (CCPA), you have additional rights under GDPR and CCPA respectively. Please contact us to exercise these rights.
8. Changes to This Policy
We will notify you of material changes to this Privacy Policy via an in-app notification on your first launch after the update. The updated policy will also be posted at our Privacy Policy URL with a new effective date.
